Cake with poppy cream, orange icing and roasted almond flakes

Simple to prepare, fluffy and aromatic cake. Perfect for weekend dessert.
250 g butter
½ cup sugar
2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar
4 eggs
1 cup of wheat flour
1 cup potato starch
1.5 teaspoons baking powder
200 g ground poppy seeds
1 glass of milk
½ cup sugar
2 tablespoons raisins
2 tablespoons of candied orange peel
2 tablespoons of honey
2 tbsp butter
1 tablespoon of vanilla sugar
1 egg
¾ glass of icing sugar
3 tablespoons of fresh orange juice
70 g almond flakes
Start with the preparation of poppy cream: boil in the saucepan all ingredients except poppy and eggs, add poppy and cook for a while, until the poppy seeds absorb liquid, set aside.

Poppy cream:


Then prepare the dough: Beat the butter (at room temperature) using mixer, then add alternating: sugar mixed with vanilla sugar and eggs. Combine both flour with baking powder and add to the remaining ingredients, constantly mixing on low speed.
Mix poppy cream with remaining egg using a fork. 

Spread 24cm springform with baking paper or grease with butter. Make layers: ½ of dough, poppy and the remaining dough, smooth each layer with a spoon. Put the cake in the oven preheated to 170-180 degrees of Celsjus (top+down heating) and bake until a skewer comes out clean (about 30-40 minutes).
Meanwhile, roast almond flakes in a dry pan until golden. When the cake is cooled, prepare the frosting: mix the powdered sugar with three tablespoons of orange juice, if it`s necessary add more sugar or juice. Pour the dough with icing and sprinkle with almond flakes. Wait a while until icing is stiff.
